We have really moved from the cutesey unit study and hanging artwork phase of homeschooling into the teenage years with our two oldest. While we do still have an element of the cutesey more often than not work is related to a syllabus or based around an interest led unit study.
While its pretty obvious what work is done with joy & what brings meltdowns and cries of “I cant do this”, I wanted to have a more solid record of what my children were enjoying and what they weren’t.
Enter – the Homeschool check in!!
I give these to the kids (age 9 up but Im sure younger ones could do too) every couple of months. As the “teacher” figure I find it great to check in with them and it gives me loads of ideas about topics to cover and areas that I can step off and give them encouragement to learn themselves, and areas that need more assistance.
